A plenitude of tremendous things have been spoken about the new generation of Nigerian Artistes, from the music quality down to their ability to fit into the international music purview and of course their heavy influence on African pop culture. Many fresh artistes are currently flooding the music industry, creating diversity in sound which is very amazing and incredibly competitive; and in this vast sand-bed of talent lays Lil-O’self — a rare gem birthing an efflux of trapped emo-tions from his journey, mutation and metanoia through his art.

Emerging from a bundle of freestyles which went viral on Instagram before the pandemic, with ’66 Clout’ being a notable freestyle that created a buzz on social media, he charmed lots of music lovers and A-List artistes and trended number 1 on Twitter. The singer falls into a selected group of new generation artistes who broke-out into the Nigerian music scene from freestlying on Instagram, but his journey doesn’t end there. Lil O’self is on a mission to excel beyond the status quo into becoming the voice and figure parenting the future of emo-trap music lying rooted in Nigeria.

The young emerging emo-trap singer and songwriter named George Joseph hails from the southern region of Nigeria, in Akwa Ibom but was raised in the garden city of Port Harcourt where he molded his craft and artistry and discovered his own style and voice. After growing up in Port Harcourt, O’self moved to America where he spent a few years in his life before returning home.

It’s 2021, Lil O’self continues to remain versatile with his melodic emo compositions and his oozing exotic vocal abilities which makes him stand out from amongst his peers. He sings with strong passion and forges every single word in every of his verses from his struggles and experiences. After releasing two sensational freestyles within the year which has sparked massive support and push from his staunch fans, the ambitious entertainer looks forward breaking boundaries with his emo-trap music in the coming year. It is therefore no surprise that one of Nigeria’s best music executives, Don Jazzy touted his credentials as one to watch out for.
